I knew from a previous mechanic that I needed a headlight harness and bulb replaced on my vehicle. With mechanic friends in PA and the help of the internet, I found that this is typically a 30 minute job. I checked out the cost of parts online as well: $8 bulb, $14 harness. Without the appropriate tools to do the job myself, I decided to take my vehicle to Ken's after reading the excellent reviews. I estimated at maximum a $100 quote (70 for labor, 30 for parts). Ken's quoted the job at $176!! To fix a headlight!? That's $97 for an hour of labor, $62 for parts and taxes. It would be one thing to charge me for more labor time than necessary, I can handle that and half expected it. But to triple the cost of parts as well?! I asked if I could buy them myself and was told no, "we have to make a profit". Needless to say, I spent $25 at O'Reilly's for the parts and went down the road to Accurate Transmission, where they quoted me $50-$70 for a 30-45 minute job. If you don't like being taken advantage of, save $100 and take your vehicle to Accurate Transmission where you will get an honest deal.
